Now we are in the home stretch. This is the point of the project you can add what you like. Make it personal to you or others. You can add names to personalize , things you love, things that mean a lot. I think Beat the Odds was in my head because of my husband’s cancer being gone. Go with what inspires you and you can’t go wrong!
I am a “what moves me in the moment” kinda gal. I had these seen these great pieces from Michaels that have an industrial look. They have all kinds of things in this collection. I found it first in the bead section but I noticed recently they had them on a display with Tim Holtz things. I first saw the #3 then I had to have a 5 and 7. My odd brain at work! lol Then the word odd stuck in my head and I thought Beat the Odds was a great theme for my wall hanging.
I looked through my stash and I had some great canvas stickers
Then I used my Sizzix machine to emboss the Tim Holtz bingo embossing folder on to a large chipboard B
Now the fun add some Adirondack Paint daubers and mush some color on
Next some distress ink
I took some metal word charms that say Love and Life and wiped some of the gold base paint into the impressions. It makes it look enameled.
Next I got so excited stamping words and using my Tim Holtz Distress Marker in Picket Fence to enhance the stamping with Picket Fence Stain I didn’t take pictures!
I stamped with a background stamp in white Pickett Fence in a small random spot for added dimension. Then I attached the elements with fabric glue, the type for beading. Helmar makes a great one. I ran out and threw away my bottle so I’m not sure which one I used on here!
I also stamped on some Prima Tiles. They really take ink wonderfully. I like the ruggedness they add even though they have flowers on them.
I used the Tim Holtz tiny attacher to add some twine on to the word charms and wrap them around the letter B.
Once I finished the canvas I attached 3 screw eyes to the bottom, one centered and the others centered on the space left and right of center.
I attached the industrial charms with jump rings. Then I added 2 screw eyes to the top of the canvas and added a Tim Holtz chain to hang it with.
Here is the finished product:
